Allen is new boss at Luton Rugby

LUTON Rugby have appointed ex-Bedford Blues back Paul Allen as their new director of rugby.

Despite already being relegated from National League Three London & South East the club’s plans for future seasons are well advanced.

They put in a spirited performance in their 45-32 defeat to Ampthill in the East Midlands Cup final at Goldington Road on Wednesday night, and are focusing on recruiting and retaining players who live within a short commute of the town.

Chairman Keith Butten said: “We are very pleased that Paul has agreed to take on the role.

“He is the ideal person to deliver our rugby objectives and will focus his attention on the management of playing matters, particularly player welfare, development and recruitment.

The Newlands Road club will have open sessions for anyone wishing to meet the coaches and see their facilities.

Allen added: “The opportunity to become director of rugby at Luton was a chance I could not resist.”
