Wetherspoon's axes popular dishes from its menu

Pub chain JD Wetherspoon has axed some favourite dishes in a huge menu shake up, according to reports.

The 8oz rump steak, New York deli burger, tandoori chicken and all hotdogs are among the items dropped from the menu.

Wetherspoon's, which operates 900 pubs across the UK, is yet to confirm why the changes have been made but dismissed claims it was part of plans to introduce a healthier options to its menu.

Wetherspoon's spokesman Eddie Gershon told the Daily Mirror: 'Wetherspoon serves a wide range of meals to suit all tastes and we are always keen to evolve our offer.

'We will be taking some meals off our menu and replacing them with new dishes when our new menu launches.'

Wetherspoon's latest menu, which was has just been launched, includes a drive-thru gourmet beef burger.

Wetherspoon's head of food, Jameson Robinson, said: "We've teamed American inspiration with British beef for out latest gourmet burger offering, as we continue to provide customers with great quality, choice and value."
