Here’s when supermarkets across the UK reopen after Christmas

With some stores open and participating in the Boxing Day sales and others remaining closed following Christmas, knowing what shops will be open today (Thu 26 Dec) can be tricky.

These are all the major supermarket chains and their Boxing Day opening hours.

Tesco

Tesco will open its doors on Boxing Day for shoppers - superstores will be opening from 9am to 6pm and smaller express stores will be open longer from 8am to 10pm.

On 27 December, stores will go back to their usual operating hours.

Aldi

As well as being closed on Christmas Day, Aldi will remain closed on Boxing Day as well.

From 27 December, Aldi will resume its normal operating hours.

Lidl

The seasonal hours for Lidl differs slightly between England, Wales and Scotland.

For England and Wales, the hours are:

Closed on Boxing Day except from inside M25 which is open 10am to 7pm.

For Scotland:

Stores are open from 10am to 6pm or 11am to 5pm - the hours will vary.

From there, stores will operate during their usual hours.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s will open its doors Boxing Day from 9am to 6pm today and after Boxing Day will resume its regular operating hours.

Asda

On Boxing Day, Asda will operate between the hours of 9am and 6pm.

Morrisons

Following its closure on Christmas Day, Morrisons will reopen its doors for Boxing Day between the hours of 9am to 6pm.

Iceland

Waitrose

Waitrose website explains that the majority of branches will be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, with the exception of the Welcome Break motorway service stations and Shell forecourts.
