Young bakers sell cakes for charity

Young bakers from St John Rigby Primary School, in Bedford, made and sold delicious cakes last week, raising nearly £100. '¨Their efforts will help to provide clean, water across the world as part of Catholic charity CAFOD's fundraising campaign.

Three pupils brought in homemade cakes over three days, which they sold at break times to raise funds for the Lent appeal.

CAFOD spokesman Deborah Purfield said: “I was so impressed to see how the students decided by themselves that they were going to raise funds for CAFOD.

“With the headteacher’s permission, they delivered a talk at an assembly to let all know what they were planning to do, they set up their stall and sold their home-baked cakes over three days. Fantastic effort, St John Rigby.”
