Wrest Park prepares for pomp and pageantry at St George’s Day celebration

A huge weekend is planned at Wrest Park later this month, when it once again hosts the country’s largest annual celebration of St George’s Day.

Entertainers spanning 2000 years of history are lined-up to mark the special day, with a laleidoscope of thrilling perios entertaiment taking visitors through 20 centuries of England’s rich history.

Roman Gladiators will battle it out one-on-one for the Emperor’s approval, Knights in shining armour will compete in medieval knife-edge jousting tournaments and there will be breathtaking displays of Georgian falconry with birds of prey.

And 950 years on from the Battle of Hastings, you’ll witness the Normans of 1066 on horseback and on foot preparing for battle.

A brand new dragon will figure in the grand finale battle between St George and his nemesis too!

Fire up your imaginations with a visit to Wrest Park during the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, April 23 & 24.

The event runs 10am to 6pm daily.
