Woman remains seriously ill in hospital after Christmas Day crash that killed father and three year old son

The woman survivor of a Christmas Day horror crash that killed a father and his three year old son remains seriously ill in hospital.

Police say the woman is in a serious but stable condition.

Emergency services were called to the eastbound carriageway of the A421 between Marsh Keys and Marston just after 11pm on Christmas Day.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the young child was airlifted to hospital but tragically died a short time later.

A woman aged in her 30s, who was also travelling in the vehicle, was rushed to Addenbrooke’s Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition.

Sgt Simon Goldsmith, investigating, said: “I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision to call police.

“Any death on the road is tragic but this incident is even more poignant given the day it occurred. Next of kin have been informed and our specialist family liaison officers are providing support to relatives.”

The road remained closed until Boxing Day afternoon while investigations were carried out.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sgt Goldsmith at the roads policing unit via the non emergency number 101.
