Woman killed by train at Bedford

A woman has died after being hit by a train at Bedford this afternoon.

The woman was struck at Bedford at 1pm, with lines between Kettering and Bedford closed whilst Network Rail and emergency services attended the incident.

A spokesman for British Transport Police confirmed that the woman’s death was not being treated as suspicious.

Disruption on the line, which also goes through Luton, is expected to continue until 6pm while trains get back in place.
