Police are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision on the A428 at Bromham last night (Tuesday).
Emergency services attended the incident involving a blue car and a silver 4x4 vehicle at around 5.45pm. Sadly, a woman in her 50s died at the scene.
One man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
Specialist officers are currently supporting the family of the deceased.
PC Andy Ralph, investigating, said: “I am keen to hear from anyone driving on this busy road at rush hour, between Bromham and the turn-off for the A6, as any information can assist our investigation.”
It’s the second fatality on Bedfordshire roads in two days following a fatal collision involving a cyclist who died on the A421 earlier in the day.
The man is believed to have been cycling along the A421 westbound between the junctions for the A600 and the A6 when he was struck by another vehicle.
Emergency services attended but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road was closed for several hours while police attended and an investigation is under way. The road was reopened shortly after 2.30pm.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant John Poppleton of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and Hertfordshire Roads Policing Unit on 101, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
