A 29 year old woman was attacked in Queen Street, Bedford as she walked home from the Vogue Nightclub in the early hours of Sunday,September 14, and police are appealing for information.
Det Con Debra Pollard, investigating the incident, said: “After a night out with her friends at the Vogue Nightclub on the High Street, the woman left her friends and
was walking through town to her home. While walking along Queen Street, Bedford at about 4:20am she became aware of a man behind her who, she thinks, emerged from the trees that line the street.
He caught up with her and punched her in the face causing bruising to her eye. She fell to the ground and the man then climbed on top of her, ripping her tights. The woman screamed and her attacker then fled the scene.
“We are looking for anyone who saw this incident to come forward help us track down this vicious attacker before he strikes again. His victim is a white woman of slim build, with shoulder-length dyed red hair. She was wearing a black dress and jacket. Her attacker is described as a light skinned male with dark eyes, about 25-35yrs old, 5ft 8 tall with dark, cropped hair. He was wearing a white shirt and a dark suit jacket.
“Did he follow her from the Vogue Nightclub or the centre of Bedford, or had he been lingering around the bushes in Queen Street in the time before the attack? If so, you might have seen him if you were coming home from town in the early hours of the morning or starting work early.”
