Winter fair in Bedford to focus on mental health

Awareness of mental health will be in the spotlight when residents in Queen's Park hold their Winter Fair.

Queen’s Park Community Orchard (QPCO) is inviting people to their 5th Winter Fair which will be held at the QP community centre, Marlborough Road, on Saturday, December 1, from 3pm to 5pm.

This year the group has chosen the theme of Mental Health Awareness as they have held mental health first aid workshops which were delivered by Our Minds Matter.

If you want to know more about this course or more about mental health, come along and speak to the many local organisations that will be present at the event.

The fair has free activities for children, performances from local talents as well as tea, coffee and mince pies. Admission is free and all are invited to join the afternoon of fun.

A spokeswoman for QPCO said: “Sadly, it will be a year that Robert Brady from the British Polish Integration Centre (BPIC) passed away and we will be commemorating his memory by putting a plaque where we planted a tree in his memory last year.”

This ceremony will take place at 2.30pm in the car park next to Havelock Street, off Ford End Road.

Mags Brady, director of BPIC and wife of Robert, will also say a few words. Carol singing and decoration of the Christmas tree will also take place.
