Bedford Borough Council is monitoring river levels and working alongside local flood groups and the emergency services in areas affected, and are asking everyone to avoid passing through floodwater.

Mayor Dave Hodgson said: “We’ve seen persistent rain falling on already water logged ground and this has led to some localised flooding.

"We’re advising everyone to continue to stay home as much as possible but if you have to head out to make sure you stay safe and avoid walking or driving through flood water, which could deeper than it appears and include hidden hazards.”
