Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journey as there are significant delays in the area. There is one lane open northbound and two lanes open southbound.

The carriageway is likely to remain partially closed in both directions until later this evening as the lorry collided with the central barrier and will need to be repaired once recovery is complete. The road will also need to be cleaned following a diesel spill. The M1 will fully reopen as soon as it is safe to do so.
