The volunteer run one-day event held in Begwary has now donated more than £20,000 to charities across the region since it began in 2010.

The recipient charities are Addenbrookes Charitable Trust’s ACT4Radiotherapy appeal which receives £4,000 and the East Anglia Air Ambulance service which is being given £2,000 to add to the £2,000 they received from BEGFEST the previous year.

Andy Girvan, a member of the festival management team, said: ““We chose ACT4Radiotherapy because some of the BEGFEST team have had first-hand experience of the incredible work they do and the East Anglia Air Ambulance as it helps the entire region and relies on donation support.

“We’ve created something that has become really special, a truly relaxed, professionally run family-friendly event featuring great live music. It is made possible by the fantastic support we receive from volunteers, sponsors and artists alike,” he added.

BEGFEST 2016 featured nine mainstage acts including the legendary blues guitarist, John Verity and his band, whose CV includes spells playing on the same bill as Jimi Hendrix and with 70s rock outfit, Argent.

This year’s BEGFEST, which is a ticket only event, will be held on Saturday, July 15. Visit www.begfest.co.uk
