A serious lorry fire on the M1 at Luton has completely close the M1 north with tailbacks stretching miles.

Thick black smoke from the fire, which was captured on video by Good Morning Britain journalist Richard Gaisford, is also billowing across both sides of the M1.

According to reports two lorries collided on the M1 northbound under the new J11A bridge and one of them burst into flames at around 10.30am.

The fire is out now and Highways England has confirmed its is working to get the road re-opened.

UPDATE 12.30PM: Two lanes have just re-opened beyound the scene but there are still long delays between J11 and J9 and on the southbound section of the road.
