Victim of Bedford bus station tragedy is named

The victim of a fatal accident at Bedford’s bus station has been named as 53 year old Nicola Berridge.

An inquest into the woman’s death was opened and adjourned today (Wednesday) by Bedfordshire’s coroner following the tragedy on Friday morning.

The victim, of Potton Road, Biggleswade, was killed when she was hit by a lorry that was delivering materials to the station, which is currently being revamped by Bedford Borough Council.

The Health and Safety Executive has now launched an investigation and is working alongside Bedfordshire Police.

Following the incident a Bedford Borough Council spokesman said: “The news that there has been a tragic death following a traffic collision in Greenhill Street has been received with huge sadness across the council. Our thoughts are with the family and friends of all those involved in the incident.”
