Vicar pays tribute to village stalwart found dead in her garden

Wrestlingworth Lower School closed for the day yesterday following the death of its Chair of Governors.

The body of Dr Margaret Tisdale was found in the garden of her home next door to the school on Tuesday evening.

Police said: “We are investigating the sudden death of a woman at an address in Church Lane, Wrestinglingworth.

“Officers were called to reports of the body in a garden at 6.30pm. The death is being treated as unexplained.”

Margaret was heavily involved with the Church of St Peter and was held in high regard.

Reverend Lindsay Dew, the rector for Dunton, Eyeworth and Wrestlingworth, said: “This is such a sad time for the church. Everyone is shocked and bewildered, it is so sudden and unexpected.

“Margaret was greatly loved and respected as one of our church wardens, she was a lovely lady who worked tirelessly.

“For the whole community this has come as a great shock.”

Emma Morris said: “Thoughts with our neighbour Wrestlingworth Lower School whose Chair of Governors died suddenly last night.”

Lainy Barbet said: “This is very sad and my children go to wrestlingworth lower. We send her family our condolences.”
