UPDATE: Woman struck by train at Leagrave station

Commuters are warned to expect rail delays after a woman was struck by a train at Leagrave station.

It is understand that police and ambulance are still at the scene.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “We were called to Leagrave station today to a report of a person hit by a train.

“Our officers attended the incident, reported at 9.25am, alongside colleagues from Bedfordshire Police.

“Medics from East of England Ambulance Service also attended and a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers are now working to identify the person and inform their family.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”

A spokesman for Thameslink added: “At 09:30 today an East Midlands train hit a person at Leagrave. All lines are currently blocked while emergency services are attending the scene.

Passengers can use their tickets on London Midland, Southern, London Underground, Great Northern and South West trains.

“We would like to apologise for the delays experienced by our passengers.”
