Today (June 5) there have been 32 new confirmed cases of coronavirus in Bedford, the total for the borough is 685, according to the latest figures from Public Health England.

It means cases have increased by 5 per cent over the last 24 hours, higher than the rate of increase across the UK of 1 per cent.

Six new coronavirus deaths have been recorded at Bedford Hospital Trust in the past 24 hours, the latest official figures show.

NHS England figures show 180 people had died in hospital at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust as of 5pm on Thursday, June 4.

In Luton, there are four new cases, with a total of 781. In Central Bedfordshire, there are 18 new cases, with a total of 671.

In Buckinghamshire, the total is 1,016, Milton Keynes has 510 cases and Hertfordshire has 2,917 cases in total.

The new figures are now recorded between 5pm the previous day to 5pm.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 283,311. The number of deaths has been recorded as 40,261.
