Two former teachers from the same private school have been charged with sexual offences against children.

Music teacher Simon Ball and chemistry teacher Scott Whitlock both worked at Kimbolton School, which is on the Beds/Cambs border.

This week Mr Ball, who is 42, was charged with five counts of sexual activity with a girl aged between 13 and 17 as well as an indecent assault on a girl under the age of 14.

His other charges include indecent assault on a girl under 16 and four counts of abuse of position of trust relating to sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 18.

Mr Ball is further charged with one count of making indecent images of children and one count of possessing indecent images of children.

The charges stem from allegations involving four girls during an 11 year period between 2001 and 2012.

Seven of them relate to one girl during the period he was teaching at Kimbolton, while the remainder relate to three girls while he was teaching at a previous school in North Yorkshire.

All the girls were aged between 13 and 17 at the time.

Simon Whitlock, who is 45, was arrested last year. On Tuesday he was charged with making indecent images of a child, possessing indecent images of a child and distributing indecent images.

He was further charged with one count of publishing an article described as “obscene”.

Though both men worked at Kimbolton School, where fees are up to £23,000 for boarding pupils, the charges against them are unrelated.

Both have been bailed to appear at Cambridge Magistrates’ Court on April 5.
