Triumphant homecoming for Bedfordshire band The Shires

The Shires will play at Bedford Corn Exchange on Thursday, October 1.

Singer Crissie Rhodes, 26, who grew up in Shefford, said: “We love the Corn Exchange and it always makes for a special night performing in front of close friends and family.

“We’ve had such an exciting year with the release of our debut album and playing shows all over the country, and even in America, but its always such a nice feeling to return to the area where it all started.”

Earlier this year the duo, including musician Ben Earle, also 26, from Slip End near Luton, made history by being the first British country act to break into the top ten albums chart.

They are now returning to home ground to entertain local crowds.

Crissie added: “When I come back to the area it reminds me of all the things I used to dream about when I was growing up in Shefford, and it’s amazing to think they’ve all come true!”
