Gritters to hit Bedford tonight as temperatures plummet

As the temperatures are expected to drop below zero tonight, Bedford Borough Council has announced it will grit the roads tonight.

In a tweet, the council said: "Tonight we will be gritting from 8pm. This afternoon cloudy with light outbreaks of rain. A light southerly breeze.

"A mostly clear and calm night with road surface temps dropping away to below zero. Chances for some pockets of fog, dense in places."
