Full steam ahead as Bedford-Brighton line engineering works draw to a close

RAIL services from Bedford to Brighton will return to a full service in May, when three-and-a-half years of engineering work is completed.

First Capital Connect (FCC) will resume running trains through central London at night and during weekends from May 19.

The work was to allow the firm to run longer 12-carriage trains during the rush hour, and for station improvements at Farringdon and Blackfriars.

FCC customer service director Keith Jipps said: “From May 19 the ‘link’ in Thameslink will be restored and our trains will run uninterrupted all the way from Bedford to Brighton all day and every day.

“This will make it even easier for people visiting the last two weekends of the Brighton Fringe which is why we are delighted to be sponsoring this event.”
