Train firm to increase standard seats with first class cuts

CUTS to the number of first class compartments on new First Capital Connect trains will mean more than 200 extra standard seats.

The train operator has announced it is halving the number of first class compartments on its new 377 trains between Bedford and Brighton, following requests from passengers.

One first class compartment from each four-carriage will become standard class, meaning an extra 20 standard class seats on each train.

The company said there would still be sufficient first class seats to satisfy demand.
