Students from St John’s School in Biddenham delivered food to Bedford’s Foodbank, which provides emergency support to those facing crisis.
Eight teenagers handed over food packages they had collected at a Christmas party in partnership with Mencap and The Harpur Trust.
Bedford Foodbank project manager Sarah Broughton said: “It’s fantastic that the students are committed to supporting the foodbank. In the future we will be able to show the young people the whole process from labelling to distribution.”
The young people chose to support the foodbank as part of a Community Impact Project run by Mencap and funded with a £30,000 grant from The Harpur Trust. It aims to support youngsters with learning disabilities to gain a qualification in employability, alongside delivering a project which has a positive impact on their community.
