Residents across Bedfordshire joined the nation in witnessing the amazing solar eclipse this morning, Friday, March 20.
The phenomenon, where the moon moves between the sun and the earth, is rarely seen and happened at around 9.30am.
Photographer June Essex captured the event above Bedford, while reader Rebecca Hownam-Guynn sent in another.
Millions of people in the UK and northern Europe have glimpsed the best solar eclipse in years.
A great swathe of the Earth’s surface was plunged into darkness as the Moon came between us and the Sun. The last solar eclipse was in 1999.
