A year of exciting activities have been lined up to mark a school’s 50th anniversary.
St Joseph’s Catholic Lower School in Bedford opened its doors for the first time on September 6, 1965.
Earlier this month, the school hosted a special anniversary assembly to mark the achievement with each class receiving a special balloon and a statue for their classroom.
During the celebration assembly headteacher at the Chester Road School, Lisa Sumpter, introduced Esther Anstee and Mick Lyons, who joined the school as pupils on its first day in 1965. They were joined for a picture by four year old Carys Woodburn, who started school this month and Caitlin McLoughlin, 14, who joined the reception class 10 years ago.
