The Disney and West End hit The Lion King was brought to Bedford in a show stopping production by Castle Newnham School.
The cast of pupils, from all years, performed twice to sold out audiences, as well as numerous performances to lower schools, with the whole school joining together for the production.
Castle Newnham will be building on this success with a new musical planned for the spring of 2018, with the auditions starting next year. The cast will include year 9 for the first time and it will be the first production to be performed in the school’s brand-new performing arts area.
Ruth Wilkes, headteacher, said: “Watching The Lion King for me was an absolute treat. The staff and pupils had worked so hard to put together a show of this quality and the vision of the production team was so impressive. I’m already looking forward to the next spectacular which
will also give us an opportunity to make use of our brand new performing arts facilities as well as including year 9 pupils for the first time.
“This production comes at an exciting time for Castle Newnham School as they look forward to developing all-through schooling in Bedford.”
