Works on the final stages of the roundabout on Bromham Road at Deep Spinney are pressing on as the Western Bypass continues to take shape.
The first roundabout, which is near its completion, is due to be resurfaced at the end of April and will form a major part of the new arterial route.
Motorists are advised to note the forthcoming weekend closures and the diversions, which will be clearly signposted along Bromham Road.
A key element in the construction of the new roundabouts was the completion of a pedestrian underpass at Deep Spinney.
The underpass, which provides access across the major route for pedestrians and cyclists, has now been completed and received stone cladding, allowing progress on the roundabout to continue.
A spokesman for Bedford Borough Council said: “We are delighted that careful preliminary planning of the contract has paid off and the bypass is currently being delivered by our contractors ahead of target.
“However, we understand that upcoming road closures to resurface the roundabout will cause some disruption to journeys and do apologise for this.
“We ask residents and motorists to please bear with us while the final stages of the works along this section of the Bypass are completed as quickly as possible, taking note of the diversion signs and information available on our website.”
The Diversion Dates around the Deep Spinney / Bromham Road area are:
April 25 to 26, from 7am on Saturday until 8pm Sunday.
May 1 to 3, from 8pm on Friday until 8pm on Sunday.
May 8 to 10, from 8pm on Friday until 8pm on Sunday.
