Mayor Dave Hodgson joined a council hit squad fighting a ‘War on Weeds’ after recent wet and warm weather led to rapid growth on roads and pavements across Bedford borough.
Over a three-week campaign, the whole of the borough’s highways are being sprayed with green-friendly weed killer, with the squad manually ripping up weeds.
Mr Hodgson said: “We are taking action to crackdown on the weeds that are blighting our roads and pavements. Overgrown vegetation affecting sight lines and safety on the roads is always dealt with as a top priority.”
