Bedford Hospital and Oakley Lower School have been given a boost by a team of 25 cyclists, who rode from London to Brighton.
After a summer of training, the group was ready to take on the 54-mile challenge, and raise about £5,000.
Spokeswoman Dawn Pither said: “It started when I wanted to get fitter while recovering from a knee injury. I was joined by parents from the school, friends and family, and representatives from the Friends of Bedford Hospital charity. “And, with the help of ten local businesses, we were able to help two charities.”
The money will be used by Oakley Lower School to fund new facilities, and Friends of Bedford Hospital will put its half towards a new day room for the hospital’s demential unit.
