Happy memories were recalled for a group of former students of St Thomas More Teaching School in Bedford, who have celebrated their 50th birthdays during the past academic year.
They first met back in school in 1978 - and 37 years later, on Saturday, September 12, they returned to their school for a wonderful evening of reminiscing, re-acquainting and creating new special memories.
Many had travelled from far and wide in order to attend the event – some even flying in from Bali, Canada, America, Amsterdam, Italy and Ireland.
The event included a tour of the school, as well as viewing memorabilia from their school days and catching up with their former teachers. It also marked the launch of the new Alumni Community which has been set up for all former pupils and staff from the Bedford Catholic Schools Trust (St John Rigby Primary, St Joseph’s Lower, St Gregory’s Middle and St Thomas More Teaching School).
The former students thoroughly enjoyed being back - some comments included:
“We all had a great time and brought back so many happy memories of our days at STM.”
“A very memorable event”.
“We’ve had a wonderful gathering at school – just too short! Loved seeing all the old and the new bits. Thank you for hosting and allowing us to come back.”
