Public votes secure £3,000 to feed those facing financial crisis

A foodbank has been awarded £3,000 through a community fund thanks to votes from the public.

Bedford’s Foodbank, which provides three days’ worth of food to those facing crisis, has been awarded the grant by Lloyds Bank.

All the food provided by the charity is donated by individuals, businesses, schools and churches.

Project manager Sarah Broughton said: “The Lloyds Bank Community Fund will make a huge difference to Bedford Foodbank by enabling us to continue providing three days’ worth of food to local people in crisis making a difference to the lives of over 600 people per month in Bedford.”

The Lloyds Bank Community Fund was set up to help people to have a positive impact at the heart of their community by giving grants to good causes.
