Pub quizzers who have been regular competitors at Bedford’s White Horse are now running the popular drinking venue.
Rod and Angela Otter have returned to the pub business after 10 years away from the industry, taking over from British Empire Medal recipients Nigel and Sue Anstead.
Grandfather Rod said: “We were quizzers here and we had been in the quiz team for 10 years.
“I think you can say that the pub inspired me to return to the industry and carry on the good work that Nigel and Sue have done.”
The former landlords, who have now retired, were keen supporters of charities during their time at the pub’s helm raising more than £189,000 for good causes over the years.
Plasterer Rod said he and wife Angela will be continuing the couple’s charitable legacy and are keen to support Parkinson’s UK, a cause that is close to their hearts.
The Tuesday and Sunday night quizzes will continue along with Wednesday’s charity quiz.
Rod and Angela, who previously worked in customer care for M&S, took over the running of the pub on Monday, June 22.
Rod, 56, said: “It is busy, a bit hectic but we are really enjoying it.”
