A car was stolen following a burglary in Wren Terrace, Bedford, between 11pm on Friday, April 24 and 1.30am the following morning, after the offenders gained entry through the front door and stole car keys.

The grey 2009 Vauxhall Insignia was later found burnt out in field near Old Warden.

Another burglary took place at around 2.30pm on Monday, April 27 after offenders forced entry to a home in High Street, Lower Stondon, before stealing cash and jewellery.

One of the offenders in this crime is described as being white, aged in his mid to late 20s, with mousey brown hair which is short around the sides. He was wearing navy trousers and jacket and carried a green holdall-type bag.

The offender and one other then got into a red vehicle, possibly being driven by a third person, and drove off towards Henlow.

The vehicle, described as an old hatchback resembling a small Peugeot or Ford Fiesta, almost collided with a white Mercedes as it turned in the road and made off.

Detective Constable Jason Wheeler, investigating the offences, said: “I would like to speak to any witnesses for either of these offences, and would also like to hear from the Mercedes driver who would have had to brake hard to avoid hitting the offenders’ vehicle.

“This small red car sounds similar to that seen during other reported incidents in the area and I would like to know who may be driving such a vehicle.

“While we investigate all offences thoroughly and want to bring these offenders to justice, I would urge all Bedfordshire residents to take note of our personal safety advice, particularly if they or their neighbours are going away for the Bank Holiday weekend.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately using the non-emergency number 101 or text 07786 200 011.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
