Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after two rifles, ammunition and jewellery were stolen from a home in Flitwick on Wednesday night (February 19).

The burglary happened sometime between 7.25pm and 8.30pm at a house In Willow Way, when the offenders gained entry to the property by forcing open a kitchen window.

Once inside, the offenders carried out a search of the main bedroom where they removed two gold wishbone shaped rings, a gold ring with an amethyst stone and a gold bangle-style bracelet with a floral pattern engraved on it.

The offenders then searched the ground floor of the house where they discovered the victim’s locked guns and ammunition cabinets.

They forced open the boxes and removed a bolt action rifle, and a self-loading rifle which both had silencers as well as approximately 800 rounds of ammunition.

The offenders also stole two firearms certificates before leaving.

Detective Constable Tracey Litchfield, who is investigating the incident, is keen to hear from anyone who was in the area and may have seen anything suspicious.
