Plea to help save Popcorn

An appeal has gone out to help save the life of a kitten with a rare heart condition.

Wood Green, The Animals Charity, which has a shop in Sandy, has launched an urgent appeal to raise £4,000 for an emergency operation to help save Popcorn.

She was one of a litter of six kittens born in a foster home.

Sadly, only three of the kittens survived and two sisters were rehomed as a pair, but a vet discovered Popcorn had a heart murmur. A cardiac ultrasound scan has revealed the severity of her condition.

Director of Veterinary Services Vanessa Cunningham said:“It is vital that surgery is carried out before any symptoms are evident, as the condition puts a huge strain on the heart. This type of surgery is only possible at a specialist hospital, such as The Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, where the charity hopes to be able to send Popcorn (pictured). Whilst we have funding for major operations, they are very limited, so to ensure the future of Popcorn and others like her, we are calling on the public to help us raise the money.”

After the operation Popcorn will need weeks of rest, care and attention but she should be able to live a normal life, ready to find her forever family.
