Plans for the new Flitwick Leisure Centre have been given full approval by Central Bedfordshire Council’s planners.

The leisure centre will be located on land adjacent to the current centre’s site, so when the new centre opens the land will be released for residential development.

An outline planning application for 72 homes on that site was also approved by the committee.

The new centre will include:

An eight lane pool with a separate learner pool and toddler splash area;

a four-court sports hall;

A 120-station health and fitness suite with cardio and resistance equipment;

Three studios for a range of class based physical activity;

Two squash courts.

There will also be a crèche, indoor climbing wall, cafe and health referral room.
