£1,000 bill after swoop on Bedford station
A Bedford man who admitted taking part in the running of a pirate radion station has appeared in court.
Kevin Challis, 34, of Woburn Road, Bedford, admitted his part in running Risk FM.
Bedford magistrates heard how officers swooped on a flat after monitoring broadcasts by the illegal station, and found a complete pirate radio set-up.
Challis, who used the DJ name KC, was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of 1,000, and won't get the seized equipment back.
