The fixtures and fittings will then be put back in, with the toilets reopening in time for the weekend.
Cllr Charles Royden, portfolio holder for environment said “These well-used toilets were given a major refurbishment during the regeneration of the car park.
"We continuously work to keep public facilities at a high standard that people would expect, so on occasion we do need to close facilities off to allow us to give them a real refresh.
“We have timed these works to ensure that these toilets are open at the weekend, to minimise the impact on people coming to visit the town centre. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this closure.”

There will be signage in place in advance of the closure, and throughout directing people to closest alternative facilities.
There are attended public facilities at St Paul’s Square and Lurke Street, and public toilets in the Harpur Centre, as well as a number of facilities available throughout the town centre through the Community Toilet Scheme.
