Today (May 14), Bedford has recorded no new confirmed cases and has a total of 531 people now diagnosed with the potentially deadly virus.

In Central Bedfordshire, there are three new cases with a total of 568, while Luton has recorded no new confirmed cases and has a total of 666.

Buckinghamshire has a total of 906 cases, Hertfordshire has 2,680 and Milton Keynes has 501.

NHS England figures show 142 people had died in hospital at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust as of 5pm on Wednesday, May 13.

On Sunday (May 10), Boris Johnson said people should return to work if they can't do so from home - but they should try to avoid public transport for social distancing reasons. Some shops are also beginning to open with social distancing measures in place.

The Prime Minister also said there would now be no limit to the amount of exercise allowed.

The new figures are now recorded from 5pm on Tuesday to 5pm on Wednesday.

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 233,151. The number of deaths has been recorded as 33,614.
