Indoor group exercise will return to John Bunyan Sports and Fitness, Kempston Pool and Robinson Pools and Fitness in Bedford next week.

Fusion Lifestyle and Bedford Borough Council are pleased to announce that in line with the Government's roadmap out of lockdown, indoor group exercise will return on Monday, May 17.

To mark the occasion and welcome early morning fitness fans back indoors a special class will be held at 5.45am at Robinson Pools and Fitness.

The Group Cycle class can be booked via the Fusion app from today (Thursday, May 13).

The restarting of indoor group exercise means that residents in Bedford can enjoy Zumba, yoga, Pilates, body pump, indoor cycle and all their other favourite fitness fixes.

The centres will continue to operate in line with government safety guidelines and those planning to visit will still be required to book and pay online, to ensure contact is minimised at each centre and allowing for the track and trace process to be implemented.

Gym users and group exercise participants will be asked to arrive ready to work out, and swimmers with their costumes under their clothes, ready to go.

These measures, combined with meticulous cleaning routines, are designed to keep customers safe and offer complete confidence to use the facilities when they return to the centre.

Anthony Cawley, Director of Operations at Fusion said: “It’s a really positive step to be able to restart indoor group exercise classes. We know how popular group exercise is and we’re excited to offer this one-off early class to celebrate the full return of our classes.

"Our instructors can’t wait to get back to offering the full timetable of classes. We are really pleased that we will be able to continue to offer some outdoor classes too, making sure we’re giving our members as much choice as possible.”

Cllr Doug McMurdo, Portfolio Holder for Leisure at Bedford Borough Council said: “Bringing indoor group exercise back is a really positive step for the leisure industry and for the wellbeing of our local community and we’re looking forward to hearing music pumping from centres again as indoor fitness studios burst back to life.

"We are delighted that we can play our part in supporting health and fitness in our area.”

All centres will be open daily, but please refer to the individual centre’s websites for opening hours.

Bookings can be made up to seven days in advance, via download of the Fusion Lifestyle app or visit the website to register and use the online booking facility.
