Resurfacing of a key route in Bedford is to start on Monday in line with government coronavirus working guidelines.

Essential resurfacing work is being carried out at Church Lane in Goldington from April 27. Bedford Borough Council’s highways engineering team and the contractor have also identified a programme that does not involve a 24-hour road closure.

Liberal Democrat Goldington ward councillors Christine McHugh and Tim Caswell said: “This is excellent news for local residents and all road users. Church Lane is a key route and it is vital that it is in a good, safe condition.

“That’s why we’ve requested these works and we’re delighted that they are able to go ahead, with contractors able to work safely and get this important work done.”

The works will take 14 working days, with a road closure in place from 8am to 6pm.
