There has been one new confirmed case of COVID-19 in Bedford in the last 24 hours, there are now 584 confirmed cases in the borough, according to latest figures from Public Health England.

In Central Bedfordshire there are 595 confirmed cases, Luton has 683 cases and there are 507 cases in Milton Keynes.

Hertfordshire has 2,790 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and there are 966 in Buckinghamshire.

But the true number of cases is thought to be far higher with many people not being tested.

There have been no new deaths from coronavirus recorded at Bedford Hospital Trust over the past 24 hours, latest official figures show.

NHS England figures show 152 people had died in hospital at Bedford Hospital NHS Trust as of 5pm on Wednesday (May 20) – the same number as on Tuesday..

Nationally, the number of coronavirus cases now stands at 250,908 (includes tests carried out by commercial partners which are not included in the country totals).

The number of COVID-19 associated UK deaths has been recorded as 36,042 rising by 338 - according to Public Health England.

The number of deaths are people who have had a positive test result confirmed by a Public Health or NHS laboratory.

The figures for the number of patients recovered from COVID-19 have not been released by Public Health England.

The new figures were recorded between 5pm on Tuesday and 5pm on Wednesday.
