Hundreds of homes affected by power cut in Bedford

Over 1,000 customers were affected by a power cut in Bedford earlier today (Wednesday), after an underground electricity cable faulted on the UK Power Networks line.

There is an area-wide power cut in Bedford, including Riverfield Drive.

A spokesperson for UK Power Networks said: "UK Power Networks engineers are working quickly and safely on site to restore power to 239 customers in Bedford after supplies were interrupted by an underground cable fault at 2.44pm.

"A further 937 customers were affected at the outset, but have already had their supplies restored.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
