High Sheriff joins Bedford firefighters for day on the frontline
The High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, Camilla King, spent a day on the frontline with firefighters at Bedford fire station.
She joined Green Watch to gain a first-hand insight into their work with firefighters introduced her to training activities as well as responding to a few operational incidents.
These included two road traffic collisions, one involving a vehicle that had collided with a Sports Direct store in Kempston, automatic fire alarm activations and assisting the ambulance service.
Bedford Green Watch Crew Commander, Dale Norman, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome the High Sheriff to Bedford fire station and show her the variety of incidents firefighters respond to every day. Green Watch really enjoyed having her with us, and it was great for her to experience both our training and operational work first-hand.”
Ms King said: “I thoroughly enjoyed spending the day with Bedford Green Watch and seeing the dedication, professionalism and teamwork shown by firefighters.
