A super slimmer from Bedford is all smiles after losing six and half stone.

Heather Buxton Hall, from Brickhill, shed the weight after joining Slimming World - and has even been featured in Slimming World Magazine.

The 65-year-old says life was very different just a few years ago. She was unhappy with her size, always felt like the odd one out and her confidence was at rock bottom.

Then one day Heather decided to make a change by joining her nearby Slimming World group at St Mark's Church in Brickhill - and that was the start of her transformation.

She said: “I’d battled with my weight for so long. Being overweight had an impact on so many aspects of my life – I struggled to get off the sofa and knew I needed to do something about my weight as it was really affecting my self esteem and my health."

Although she was nervous about joining the group at first, Heather says it was the best decision she has ever made.

“Everyone was so friendly," she said. "The group is so supportive and always there to pick you up and remind you how far you’ve come when you’ve had a tough week – it’s like I’ve got my own bunch of cheerleaders, who all understand what it’s like to lose weight.”

Heather followed Slimming World’s Food Optimising eating plan, which means members can enjoy generous portions of healthy food like lean meat, pasta, rice, potatoes, fruit and veg.

Lorrie Pearson, who runs the Brickhill Slimming World group, said: “Looking after ourselves and our health has never been more important. And the changes Heather has made week after week has proven how making small and simple changes to your lifestyle can have a significant impact on your weight and health – and I can’t believe she’s now in Slimming World Magazine.

“I hope Heather’s success will inspire other people in Bedford who’d like to lose weight, improve their health and form new lifestyle habits for life to take the leap. There really is no better time than now."

The Brickhill group currently meets virtually on Monday afternoon and evenings and Tuesday mornings. Call Lorrie on 07429 042324 or send an email to [email protected].
