Equality recognition for NHS chiefs

BEDFORDSHIRE’S health bosses have been given an elite status within the NHS for its work with equality.

The South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT) is one of only 12 NHS trust nationally to be accredited as a national equality and diversity partner supported by NHS Employers for 2012/13.

This means that the trust will share best practice locally and nationally, within the NHS and across the public sector.

Dr Patrick Geoghegan OBE, chief executive of SEPT, said: “This is excellent news just as we celebrate Equality and Diversity Week in the trust.

“The fact that SEPT has been chosen as one of only 12 NHS trusts to work as partners of NHS employers on equality and diversity is a real coup for us and I look forward to working with NHS Employers and sharing our best practice locally and nationally throughout the NHS and wider public sector.
