A dog from Bedford Borough has been shortlisted for a national pet photography competition - and needs votes from the community to win.

Frank and his owner Wendy, who live in Bromham, recently entered a social media competition hosted by pet food brand, HiLife.

The photography contest encouraged pet parents to share snaps of their cats and dogs #LivingTheHiLife as a way to celebrate what makes our pets happy.

Frank is three years old and is a rescue from Romania. His owner says he loves to chat and run across the beach.

The lucky shortlisted pets, chosen by an esteemed panel of pet lovers including talented pet photographer Kerry Jordan, will have the chance to win a huge prize bundle worth over £200, featuring goodies from HiLife and various treats from top pet brands.

Wendy said: “Frank is a qualified Pets as Therapy dog and loves children. He has also just started scentwork and is showing promise! He makes me laugh every day and I would love him to win as he is a great example of what rescue dogs can do.”

To decide the two winners — one cat and one dog — the competition will now go to a public vote on the brand’s Facebook pages (HiLife Cat and HiLife Dog) and users will simply have to ‘like’ their favourite entry.

Sarah Alexander, Marketing Director at HiLife and competition judge, said: “It’s been inspiring to see so many pet owners, like Frank and Wendy, share with us what makes their pets happy with lovely photos on social media. It was a tricky task picking the winners from all of the adorable pet photos we’ve received for this competition, but we’d like to thank everyone for taking part.”

The public vote will close on Wednesday, June 9.
