Council in discussions with landowner after travellers move from one part of Bedford village to another
“We are aware that this encampment has moved to a nearby location and we are reaching out to the landowner"
Bedford Borough Council is in discussions with landowners at Willington after travellers arrived in the village.
A Bedford Today reader who wanted to remain anonymous revealed they moved on to playing fields adjacent to the village hall over the weekend before moving on to another part of the village.
A Bedford Borough Council spokesperson said: “While this is not council land, we worked with the police and Village Hall Management Committee and the encampment moved on yesterday (Monday) evening. We are now assisting with the clear-up of this site.
“We are aware that this encampment has moved to a nearby location and we are reaching out to the landowner.”
