Youngsters from Bedford Road Primary School took part in the school's first ever Festival of Reading and Poetry.

Inspired by The Bedfordshire Festival of Music, Speech and Drama the school decided to hold its own virtual festival, with 44 youngsters taking part.

Cheryl Williams, Deputy Headteacher said: "The whole school is working together to provide the very best reading and vocabulary opportunities for all the children; this includes sharing and enjoying high quality texts across the curriculum.

"As a school we want our children to experience the joy of reading for themselves and to share this experience with others.

"We are so proud of all the children who took part, all of the children had spent the previous six weeks learning their poems and preparing their reading pieces; all their hard work paid off!

"The excitement around the school was fantastic as this event was part of the whole school Bookish Mornings and Arty Afternoons week organised by Mrs Crocker and Miss Parker. We are all looking forward to next year’s event already!"
